I read the reviews and am probably as skectical as anyone. When I received my Thermos - I filled it with hot water and dumped it as a preheat. Then I filled it with 200 degree water. In two hours it was 190 degrees. After four hours it was 180 degrees and after six hours, it was 170 degrees. The matching mugs - filled at the same time. After six hours they were at 160 degrees. The lids are a little more complex to take apart than some suggested, but nothing a reasonable person who can read directions should have a problem with. The seals are as leakproof as suggested. and the dark blue is just beautiful. Taken in total, the thermo and the mugs are awesome. They aren't cheap, but still are an excellent value. They made a believer out of me.

I bought this Thermos in November of 2009 and after 4 months of daily use the stainless steel part of the cap has separated from the plastic part. I have taken really good care of this product, and it is quite clear that the glue used to join the two parts was just not up to the task.
A friend has an earlier model and the same thing happened to him. Granted this is from a very small sample size, but it appears as though this is a common problem with the Thermos brand insulated bottles. I would really like to hear from other customers to see if ours were isolated incidents, or if this is a common occurrence.
After a mail to the Thermos helpdesk I was told the following:
"The limited warranty only covers the stainless steel portion of the bottle. The warranty does not cover gaskets, stoppers, or cups as the parts can wear due to long periods of use, neglect, abuse or can be altered. We do have these parts available for a small fee."
I guess the reply means that even though the bottle part of the Thermos is supposed to last 5 years, they want to make a buck from their customers by having them continually buy replacements for the really poor quality accessory parts.
I agree with the other reviewers in that the product keeps coffee piping hot, but I will not recommend this product until Thermos addresses the quality issues with their cap/cup.

Thermos FUNtainers are such great items for kids. I love all the variety of designs available..there's something for every kid! This Transformers one is perfect for my 6yr old son who is obsessed with Transformers The water bottles are great because they keep drinks icy cold for a really long time and it's perfect to take along on trips or just to have at the house. Knowing that my kids have a water bottle handy makes me feel better knowing that they'll be drinking enough water and more often too.

Original Review:
This should be illegal. This company shows a picture of a Barbie Thermos and sends a Thermos with a completely different picture. If I buy a pair of black boots on Amazon, I don't expect that I might get a pair of polka dot boots
It's like a bait and switch gone worse.
One note on the Thermos brand and cup's functionality, it is great. Keeps drinks relatively cold and does not leak. I have seen the button get pressed accidentally and leak, but that is really user error.
I am giving this one star only, though, just because they just did not send what was pictured. For $15, you can go to Target, close your eyes, and grab one off the shelf.
I will be calling Amazon tomorrow to see what can be done about this, and will update after the fact.
Update: Amazon has sent me a prepaid shipping label to send this back, which I will do. Also, I've uploaded a couple of pictures to show the "flower" Thermos.

We love the Thermos Funtainers. Each of my kids have two each, so that they always have a clean one to use. My daughter left her Hello Kitty one at ballet one day, and someone stole it from the lost and found, so I got her this one. It is NOT the one pictured in the main pic (with the Barbie on it). It's just flowers with the word "Barbie" on it (small). She likes it, so we'll keep it, but I'm disappointed.

I received this as a Christmas gift 10 years ago instead of the Stanley thermos I'd asked for, but I can't imagine a better product. I LOVE IT. It still looks great and works great. Because the lining is metal instead of plastic, if you accidentally leave coffee ; milk in it for a few months (I just did that), when you DO clean out the resulting nastiness, there's no residual odor or taste. Clean as a whistle.
It keeps your beverage nice and hot, and fills up my work mug twice, perfectly. If you're careful not to cross-thread the lid, it can be carried upside down with no leakage.
This is a well-styled product, as well. I feel like I'm transporting a top-secret radioactive substance when I carry it. ;)

I had the previous version for many years, still have it, but wanted another. This product is very well made, well engineered, and functionally beautiful. I am pleased the quality is still maintained. I would recommend this as a first choice.

I bought one of these for my husband who has lots of water bottles (some with necks only about an inch wide!)that he uses while at work on construction jobs. This brush is the ONLY one we found that actually will clean those bottles. The key is, the skinny part of the handle BENDS so you can reach the unreachable parts of the bottles. I recommend this brush to anyone who uses water bottles on a daily basis.

This is the first decent bottle brush I have found that fits through the neck of the narrow mouth Nalgene bottles. It's nice and soft, too, so I feel safe using it on my nice wine glasses. This brush was so hard to find so I was excited to find it here. Oxo better not ever discontinue this brush or I'll sue

I bought this water bottle for my daughter and she loved it. It looks nice and pretty. The insulated stainless steel does not leak any chemicals and the plastic parts are all PBA free. The only thing I don't like is that hinge of the plastic cap is easy to be broken. Both ours and my friends' are broken after the bottles were dropped to the ground. So we ordered the caps from Thermos customer service again. I think it cost about $3 for each cap, not too bad.

We have had two of this bottles for about 2 years now. Both are THERMOS brand but they are different designs. One is a Funtainer and came on its own (bought it in-store at Target), the Hello Kitty design. The lid and straw part has held up well, but the bottom part (plastic) shattered during the first week of use (what kind of kid does NOT drop things!) and has been superglued, taped etc many times.
The second one is a FooGo and came in rigid plastic wrapping, also bought at Target. This one does not have the issue of the Funtainer with the fragile bottom, but instead, the straw has been split in half for a while now. What is worse is that the straw insert is not made of 2 but 3 pieces, an absolutely bad design because you have to take all the pieces apart to wash and then put them togheter for use again, if you dont take all the pieces apart, you risk having soap in betweek the 2 big pieces or water that will never dry up because is caught in between the 2 tight surfaces.
If Thermos could only combine the 2 designs and make one with a good 2 piece-only straw and a more flexible plastic bottom then it would justify to pay $20 for a water bottle. Until then I will keep shopping for something that makes for sense and is durable as well.
On the good side, both bottle keep water very cold (I add ice in the morning before school) for several hours and we have not had any leaking issues when the lids are closed. It is easy to close the lids properly compared to other Contigo bottles (bpa free plastic) that I bought at Costco and are a leaking nightmare if not perfectly aligned and closed properly.

we have tried many different stainless steel water bottles...this one is the best for my girls age 6 and age 4. They do not leak, they are easy to clean, and their water stays cold all day at school. Perfect!

This is the 3rd Funtainer I have purchased for my kids (4.5 and 15 mos.). We love them because they keep drinks cold for the whole day - guaranteed. Even on hot days, there is still ice inside at evening-time.
